The challenges facing the emergency responder community are evolving rapidly in today's security aware climate. EMRTC has been a leader in providing DHS approved training to qualified first responders from all over the nation. EMRTC will continue to provide training to our nation's first responders to help them effectively respond to events involving explosives.

Course Offerings

Tactical Response to Suicide Bombing Incidents (TRSBI)
Provides law enforcement tactical officers with the knowledge and skills to prevent and respond to suicide bombing incidents. Through lectures, discussions, case studies, and live-explosive field demonstrations, law enforcement tactical officers are presented with information on preventing, deterring, and mitigating the effects of a suicide bomber.

Incident Response to Terrorist Bombings (IRTB)
Prepares emergency responders to react effectively, work cooperatively, and apply countermeasures in any incident involving explosives.

Prevention and Response to Suicide Bombing Incidents (PRSBI)
Provides senior state and local emergency responders with the knowledge and skills needed to develop policies for the prevention, interdiction, response, and mitigation of a suicide bombing attack.

Understanding and Planning for School Bomb Incidents (UPSBI)
Online course for emergency responders and school staff that addresses the issues involved in formulating safe and effective response plans for school bomb incidents.

Drone Assessment And Response Tactics (DART)
The goal of the DART course is to help front-line first responders and emergency management personnel to recognize and assess an unmanned aircraft event for a potential threat, and to give basic awareness of how to assess and mitigate that threat.

Unmanned Aircraft Systems Program Development (UASPD)
The goal of the USAPD course is to aid first responders and emergency agencies in the successful development, implementation, and sustainment of a department or agency’s small unmanned aircraft system (sUAS) program.

Initial Law Enforcement Response to Suicide Bombing Attacks (ILERSBA)
ILERSBA was developed with support and cooperation from the Department of Homeland Security, National Bomb Squad Commanders Advisory Board, and New Mexico Tech to provide front line law enforcement officers with the skills and knowledge to effectively interdict and respond to an imminent suicide bombing attack (person-borne or vehicle-borne) or a non-suicide attack involving a vehicle-borne device.

Homemade Explosives: Awareness, Recognition, and Response (HME)
The HME course is designed for all levels of first responders who may encounter or respond to a homemade explosives incident. This course presents information on the safe response to homemade explosive pre-detonation and post-detonation incidents.

Medical Preparedness and Response for Bombing Incidents (MPRBI)
New Mexico Tech and The National Emergency Response and Rescue Training Center (NERRTC) on behalf of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) National Preparedness Directorate have developed courses as part of the National Domestic Preparedness Consortium's curricula to improve the abilities of jurisdictions to combat domestic terrorism. The courses provide training to first responders at the awareness, operations, technician, or incident command levels. Medical Preparedness and Response for Bombing Incidents an operations level course, is one of several taught by New Mexico Tech (NMT) and the Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) and funded by The U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

State Point of Contact

Each State Point of Contact (SPOC) is responsible for coordinating WMD training. Your SPOC must review and approve your application for the operational-level course before you submit it to EMRTC.

The NDPC is a professional alliance sponsored through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security/FEMA National Preparedness Directorate providing high-quality training to emergency responders throughout the United States and its territories.
